A cosy, mid-terrace holiday cottage with great views over the grounds and surrounding countryside, Meavy Cottage is situated on the rather wonderful Gitcombe Estate in South Devon, just outside the South Hams village of Cornworthy. It shares the space with a handful of other holiday cottages, but there's a real getting-away-from-it-all vibe here, and the grounds of the Gitcombe estate feature all sorts of additional benefits, including two swimming pools, a sauna and steam room, tennis courts and a children's playground and indoor games room.
Meavy Cottage sleeps up to 4 people in its two ground-floor bedrooms – a double room with large patio and a twin room that can also accommodate a cot; there's a shower room (but no bath) and a sofa bed on the mezzanine floor above the living area. The living area is a level above the bedrooms, and has comfy sofas and a flatscreen TV and a small balcony. There's also a well-equipped galley kitchen and a dining area with room for six people.
The house has its own patio with barbecue and outdoor furniture, and you can also make the most of the grounds and facilities of the estate, including the pool and tennis court. Bear in mind also the estate also occupies a particularly beautiful spot in Devon's South Hams, a few minutes' inland from Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands. Dartmoor and the busy market town of Totnes are also close by, as are the seaside resorts of Salcombe, Bigbury and the beaches at Hope Cove and Thurlestone. All in all, a perfect place for a Devon break, whether you're a young family or a couple looking for a romantic retreat.
