Situated on the sumptuous Gitcombe country estate in South Devon, this elegant yet extremely cosy Grade-II-listed Georgian farmhouse is an ideal spot if you're looking for somewhere large with lots of features – maybe for an extended family gathering or friends' get-together. Set in its own gardens, it's peaceful and secluded, with its own secluded gardens. It also enjoys all the benefits of the estate, including two swimming pools, sauna and steam room, tennis courts and a children's playground and indoor games room. It's a terrific place for an indulgent weekend with friends or extended family groups.

Just outside the historic village of Cornworthy in the South Hams, Gitcombe House is a suitably grand property for any special occasion, with flagstoned hall, a grand rooms with corniced ceilings and large sash windows, elegant period furnishings and beautifully kept grounds. There's a beautiful, plush drawing room with an open fire, a spacious dining room with a dining table that can seat 12 and a separate snug room for the kids. Meanwhile you can cook up a delicious feast on the Aga cooker, the centrepiece of the house's large country kitchen, which is also equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Bear in mind too that for all the period elegance, the house comes with all the modern amenities you would expect, including oil-fired heating, wifi, Bose bluetooth speakers and a large flatscreen TV.

There are six bedrooms in all , including a twin room on the ground floor that would suit someone less physically able, and upstairs there is another twin, a king-size bedroom, a triple with three singles and two super-king-size bedrooms, one of which has its own en-suite bathroom. There's also a generous family bathroom, home to a cast-iron slipper bath and separate walk-in shower.

You could spend a great deal of time at Gitcombe just lazing about the house, taking a dip in one of the pools or just exploring the estate. But it's worth knowing that you are in a very desirable part of the South Hams of South Devon, just a few minutes' inland from historic Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands in one direction and the busy market town of Totnes and Dartmoor in the other. You're also close to Salcombe, Bigbury and the beaches at Hope Cove and Thurlestone. It would be hard to think of a much better place for a Devon family holiday.
