Situated on the expansive Gitcombe estate in south Devon, just outside the South Hams village of Cornworthy, this spacious detached holiday cottage is a perfect venue for a large family or a gathering of a group of friends. Comfortably sleeping up to 8 adults, it enjoys all the benefits of the estate it occupies, including two swimming pools, a sauna and steam room, tennis courts and a children's playground and indoor games room.

The Garden House is also a special place to stay in its own right, with a gorgeous light and spacious open-plan living area complete with beams and wood-burning stove, underfloor heating, comfy sofas and large refectory-style dining table and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Stairs lead down to a lower floor where there are four guest bedrooms – a super-king-size double and a standard double, both with en-suite bathrooms and two smaller twin rooms that share a bathroom (one of these has 'cabin' beds and is perfect for under-12s). Outside there's a private terrace with garden furniture and barbecue, where you can dine al fresco and take in the superb views before making your way down the path to the swimming pool and tennis court beyond.

You could spend a lot of time at Gitcombe just lazing about the house or exploring all the facilities on the estate. But it's worth knowing that you are also in a highly desirable part of the South Hams just a few minutes' inland from Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands in one direction and from the busy market town of Totnes in the other; Dartmoor too is close by, as are Salcombe, Bigbury and the beaches at Hope Cove and Thurlestone. It would be hard to think of a much better place for a Devon family holiday.
