Situated in a small Kent village just to the north of Canterbury, we love this luxury log cabin, built to bespoke specifications to make the perfect self-catering retreat for a couple or a group of friends. Not only does it have everything you need for a comfortable stay, its location – just outside Canterbury but also not far from the north Kent coast at Whitstable, is terrific, and you can walk to both places in less than a hour. For a weekend escape form London, or even longer, it's ideal.
Best of all the wheelchair accessible cabin is fitted out to an extremely high standard, with a lovely open-plan living room with a wood burning stove, plus a dining area and large and extremely well-equipped kitchen with a gas hob, two electric ovens, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Doors open from here onto a decked area with a covered hot tub and sauna, and the so-called 'Treehouse Snug' at the bottom of the garden. The cabin has two bedrooms:, including a master suite with king-size bed and free-standing copper bath, and a second bedroom (also with a king-size bed) that overlooks the wildlife park next door. The living room also has a double sofa bed so at a pinch the cabin can sleep six. There's also a family bathroom with underfloor heating and a shower.
Above all you couldn't be better place for seeing this part of Kent, with
Canterbury and
Whitstable nearby, and the other North Kent seaside resorts – Herne Bay, Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs – just a short drive away. There's a decent pub in the village, the Royal Oak, and the Druidstone Wildlife Park is next door, while there are any number of walks you can do in the nearby woods and surrounding countryside. Best is probably the 7-mile-long
Crab & Winkle Way which follows a former railway line all the way from Canterbury to Whitstable and passes close by. Other accommodation on the same site includes the
Tree House Hideaway,
The Enchanted Faraway Tree,
A Secret Garden and
Gulliver - The Quirky Camper.
