Just a short walk away from Mawgan Porth beach, this small complex of 2-bedroom holiday properties nestles in glorious countryside not far from Newquay in North Cornwall. It's a superb spot for any kind of holiday, with the South West Coast path, any number of terrific beaches, Watergate Bay and Newquay nearby, and beautiful countryside and woodland walks, too. And Merlin Farm's cottages make an extremely comfortable and also eco-friendly base from which to explore.

Three of Merlin Farm's four holiday cottages occupy a terrace of contemporary dwellings that are the ultimate in sustainable luxury. Provided with ground-source heating, solar-heated water, green electricity and bamboo bath robes, they are as eco-conscious as you can get without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. The interiors are spacious, bright and bang-on up-to-date, yet they retain a traditional, rustic feel, emphasised by chunky oak furniture and oak beams taken from the original barns. The sun floods in through bi-fold doors, and there are wonderful views over the tranquil surrounding countryside, despite the fact that you are only ten minutes or so from the beach. There's also a fourth property, Trevone Cottage, which tucks just in behind the eco dwellings, a converted barn that has been turned into a spacious and detached property, with large open-plan spaces and the same clean, spacious look and feel as the eco-cottages. It has a modern kitchen-diner, a master bedroom and twin, and a wetroom with a walk-in shower. It also benefits from underfloor heating, wood-burning stove and private, lawned garden.

Each cottage has its own private garden, wood-burning stove, underfloor heating, and is decorated with local artwork. They are all child and baby-friendly, with stair gates and baby baths if you need them. Dogs are welcome – except in the summer holidays – and you are a short hop from many of North Cornwall’s most coveted spots, including Watergate Bay and Bedruthan Steps, and also midway between the popular resorts of Newquay and Padstow.

Home from home in Cornwall.

Merlin Farm and the family (both 2 legs and 4) are both very welcoming and comfortable, with the addition of the Eco cottages this is truly one of the best places my husband and I have stayed in. We have spent the last nine years at Merlin, and found so truly wonderful gem in and around Mawgan Porth and local areas. Would highly recomend Merlin Farm to anyone.

Great for families!!

Eco-chic funky farm, great for families and couples on the north coast of Cornwall. Great beacuse it's just a short walk to Mawgan Porth Beach, and close to Rick Stein's restaurants at Padstow and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay.
