1 Ayres Cottage Walsingham Road Burnham Thorpe PE31 8HN
Ancient village pub where Admiral Nelson held a farewell party for the locals in 1793. Since then, little seems to have changed – as manifest in the serving hatch rather than bar, old wooden benches and the heel-worn tiled floor. The bar food is very much up to date, though – try the venison sausages and mash. They serve a particularly delicious spiced rum too, ‘Nelson’s Blood’, which you can also buy by the bottle.
