We're just going to go ahead and say it – unique. Spinks Nest really is, a hugely romantic cottage bolthole for two that marries deluxe vibes with an extraordinary rustic-chic aesthetic. It's a North Norfolk gem, a short walk from a gastro-pub and close to the dunes, shingle beaches and marshes of this most alluring of regions. You really aren't going to find anywhere else quite like it, and couples looking for a secluded getaway with luxury on their mind are going to love it.
With its pantile roof, exposed flint and lime-rendered walls, reclaimed oak beams, and vast chimney space with woodburner, there's plenty here that's recognisably traditional. But then you step inside and clap eyes on the integrated designer style that been brought to bear, and your heart sings. The fabrics are fabulous, and the painted wood-panelling, tilework and vintage interventions are perfectly judged. Reclaiming and upcycling is the watchword throughout, from armchairs to bathroom fittings, and if there's a more eye-popping statement than the enclosed sunken concrete bath and its rows of plants and candles, we'd like to see it. There's a king-sized bed with wool-stuffed mattress and gorgeous, Designers Guild bed-linen, while a super, high-spec, farmhouse-style kitchen has everything you need, plus a Nespresso machine to boot. There's a lovely little private sun-trap garden outside too.
Bring your dog if you like. There's parking on the road outside, and the small medieval hamlet of Hunworth is just a stroll away, sitting right in the Glaven Valley. Lovely Holt is the nearest market town, with the marshes of Cley and Blakeney beyond, and mile after mile of coastal walking and cycling. And a spink? It's an old name for a finch, so keep an ear out for birsdsong as you relax in your bijou little North Norfolk love-nest.
