Very comfortable family-run hotel on the North Norfolk Coast in a great seaside location.
The hotel has 16 guest rooms, spread between the main house – very comfortable and provided with all amenities – and a timber-framed building in the garden, where the 5 'Orchard Rooms' are a bit more contemporary in style. The style of all the rooms is simple, understated and homely, with a mixture of antique and up-to-date furnishings and well-appointed en-suite bathrooms; all the rooms have Smart TVs, good WiFi and tea- and coffee-making facilities, and there are four rooms which are perfect for families (one with a record deck and stock of vinyl for dads and teens!). Note also that they also have glamping on site in the form of yurts and shepherds huts.
The sumptuous grounds and gardens of the hotel are home to a heated indoor swimming pool, along with a handful of dog-friendly self-catering cottages, plus a shepherd's hut and five yurts for glamping. Nearby, the impressive kitchen garden provides ingredients for the hotel's two AA-rosette restaurant, The Garden Rooms, as well as its unique giant-tipi restaurant, Sundown, which dispenses excellent pizzas and 'Norfolk tapas' throughout the summer – both are as much of a draw for non-residents as for hotel guests. There's also a cosy bar in the main house, with patio tables outside.
Finally, there's the location, which is something special. A footpath leads from the grounds through the woods to the cliffs and the beach below, and it's also a short stroll into the busy resort of Cromer in one direction, with its pier and nationally renowned chippies, or a slightly longer one to the nearby village of Overstrand, where the sand is lovely and there are crabs and lobsters for sale and a good clifftop beach café. Coming from the south on the A149, turn right onto Cromwell Rd just as you come into the town centre and the hotel is on your left. Fantastic experience
We were gifted a one night getaway for Christmas, and it was a fantastic experience. We stayed in the Sunburst Lodge, which had a beautiful outlook on the gardens. The location itself is brilliant just a short stroll to the cliff up or the beach. In the evening, we enjoyed a three course meal which was cooked perfectly. In the morning, we enjoyed a cooked breakfast which set us up for the day. The staff were all really friendly and super helpful And our overall experience for a Valentines weekend felt special.

We just keep coming back
What can we say about The Grove.... In a world of cliched, over styled hotels, The Grove has both feet firmly in the real world and a kind of charm that can't be achieved with a lick of designer paint. Time and again when we have stayed here the staff have been amazing, the food has been fantastic and the facilities are exactly what you want from a British seaside hotel - beautiful grounds and access to the beach when the weather is good and an indoor swimming pool and a cozy bar when its not. We just keep coming back as we know in advance that our stay will always be perfect.
Would definitely recommend
First time we've stayed, or eaten, at The Grove. Recommended to us by friends. We loved the house, room, grounds and the scenic walk into Cromer. Dinner was excellent, all dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast was also of a very high standard. Staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend The hotel and restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit.
Top-class and keep telling friends about it!
We had a wonderful time, as expected, at the Grove. It was a Sunday Night Package with an extra night through a 300 Club Promotion. We had the privilege of being in the attic room 11. It is a great use of space and we loved the quirky way the old family bedrooms have been used. From the very first welcome to recognising there was a miscalculation on our extras bill, the staff are first rate. They bring a highly professional approach but you still feel you are being looked after by a family in a place that really matters to them personally. It is unusual as so many well run hotels, even with top class staff, miss that family warmth. Our meal on Sunday night was exceptional. The quality of the food was excellent. I had the Black Pudding starter which was a surprise when it came and was full of subtle flavours and a great texture. The baked Monkfish tail was innovative and again full of flavour. My wife had the smoked salmon pithivier which she loved. We both had desserts and had to take a pause in front of the fire before being able to face the stairs to number 11 as we both full and very happy! Breakfast has some of the best sausages that I have tasted anywhere and we was served with care and attention. We think the Grove is top class and keep telling friends about it! We were given very helpful advice about local bus services and enjoyed hearing more of the back story to the Grove. We look forward to our next visit!

First class
Lovely afternoon tea at the Grove. Excellent service, food and plentiful topping up with tea. First class. That’s why we keep coming back. Usually seated in the day lounge area but was busy so settled into the bar lounge which was warm, relaxed atmosphere with light music. Well done great job with all concerned.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Grove. It is a beautiful property with intriguing rooms which have been very well designed. The food was excellent and the team were very clearly very proud to be a part of a great family business.
No hesitation recommending
I was visiting Cromer with my daughter for a funeral. The staff at The Grove couldn't have been more helpful. My daughter has an electric vehicle and we were delighted that the hotel had 4 x electric charge points so we were able to hook up her vehicle the moment we arrived. We arrived earlier than expected and the hotel had already prepared our room and invited us to unwind and unpack earlier than we expected...that was lovely after a long drive. We were not expecting to have dinner at the hotel but we were very happy to have breakfast the next morning and were delighted with all that was on the menu. All fresh and the choice was endless. We had the Smoked Salmon and it was delightful and presented in a very beautiful way. The room was lovely, as a twin there was plenty of room for two and it had everything we needed from a cup of tea or coffee to a shower or bath. The beds were very comfortable, we had extra blankets should we need them but we didn't as the room was cosy. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. I have no hesitation to recommend The Grove and all its delights, especially the food! Thank you for making a difficult time more bearable! Hope to see you again one day.
Highly recommend
Highly recommend The Grove. Staff are highly attentive from greeting you upon arrival through to your entire stay. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a lovely friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is superb, with great service and a fabulous chef. We have stayed many times and have always had superb meals. There is a great choice when it comes to breakfasts and again they never disappoint as quality ingredients are served. I always look forward to our stays at The Grove.

You pull off the rare trick of providing 4-star plus country house hotel service and facilities, without the stuffy formality that one often experiences at other UK establishments. The dinner was memorable and again the highest level of service, but in a relaxed environment. Your location is also perfect offering a secluded position, yet in easy reach of Cromer. Brilliant glamping, cottages & fab hotel
We had a wonderful weekend here with a big group of friends and family to mark a milestone birthday. The glamping and Shepherd's Lodge were so comfortable and the children loved it (and we loved the hot tub and warm croissants ordered from the hotel). The cottages were comfortable and well equipped and dog friendly. Everything clean and well kitted out. The hotel rooms were lovely, and the breakfast among the best we've ever had. The beach is so close but even if it had rained we'd have been well catered for with the pool, woods and Cromer an easy walk. Congratulations to the owners and all the staff for running such a fantastic place.

Lovely short break at The Grove Hotel
Really nice room fantastic service and great food, having a swim with the pool to yourselves is a real treat. Location is fab with a short walk through the woods bringing you out onto the cliffs. Richard was very attentive and made sure our stay was perfect - thanks.

Excellent, clean, comfy, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Orchard room. Food was delicious, cooked breakfast was perfect and lovely home made marmalade. Room was spacious with massive bed and comfy sofa. Staff were all very pleasant.

We came here for afternoon tea never having been before. We loved the house. The decor is very lovely and cosy. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we were well looked after. The vegan choices were delicious and plentiful. Would definitely come again.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Grove, the staff were helpful & friendly, food delicious, hotel and grounds delightful. Being able to book the pool was nice, just for us, and the charms of Cromer are a 10-minute walk away.

Cannot praise The Grove highly enough
We had a wonderful evening at The Grove from the moment we walked in the door. The elegance of the hotel, the relaxed atmosphere and the exceptional food and service are first class. The chef is to be commended, to me the food was of Michelin-star quality. Delicious! I cannot praise The Grove highly enough. We shall certainly be back!
Excellent stay
It was an excellent stay, unfortunately our group could only be at The Grove for one night. I am sure one or the other will return at some later point in time. Beautiful rooms, very nice house, great breakfast, even the small one at a very early time in the morning was really good. Thank you very much.

Tremendous stay
We had a tremendous stay. The luxurious room was beautiful and the bed large and comfortable. The two staff members who looked after us ensured that we had an excellent vegan evening meal and were friendly and attentive. It was a lovely atmosphere at the hotel, and I enjoyed an early morning swim before breakfast. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a special occasion or weekend getaway.

Location - food - staff 5star - nothing was any trouble for the team at The Grove - we had a fabulous stay here in the orchards rooms - relaxed atmosphere super fresh delicious dining experience in the restaurant - next time we will try Sundown for sure!

We had an afternoon tea on arrival, we were greeted by very attentive and helpful staff..we were sat in the bar area and had a very nice tea - again the staff checking on us for teas and coffee etc... The surroundings and building are very beautiful and relaxing. We shall be back... Thank you.
Nothing amiss in a lovely hotel and that includes lovely friendly staff
There was nothing not to like. The bedrooms were cosy, beds comfortable, excellent shower, delicious food. I could go on. It was a DBB offer. It would be nice to hear of any further offers e.g. in the quiet time following New Year.
A lovely low-key country house, tucked away but close enough to Cromer and the sea.
The room was huge and characterful, cleverly integrating two former attic rooms for servants and a corridor with the main space. One of those attic rooms was a snug with sofa, big TV, and wardrobe space, and the other was the bathroom, with a free-standing bath, shower cubicle and basin. The loo was in a separate space off the bedroom. The public rooms have a traditional but relaxed feel and the staff is friendly and always on hand. We had booked dinner as well. The room was nicely busy and the food I would call homely but classy at the same time, with just the right amount of choices. I knew the hotel was close to the coast but I was pleasantly surprised to learn you can get to the cliffs from there without having to walk back into Cromer.

Lovely place, amazing food
We came here on a weekday evening and it was busy! Despite this, we were served very quickly. We had a lovely chatty waitress who was more than happy to help. Lots of food options - I'm veggie and had lots of choices. A really nice place, we will be back!

Their Sundown restaurant is always the best time! We went in the evening and it was so lovely. It felt so cosy on a summer evening. The food was delicious and came out quickly. There was pizza and I also had a few tapas options as I just couldn’t decide. I Couldn’t get enough! Service was 10/10. Everyone was so welcoming and it was lovely how they would come and check everything was okay. Overall, I had a wonderful time with my family and it is for sure my favourite place to eat in Cromer. Absolutely recommended for all :)
Another amazing stay
Had such a lovely anniversary with you. Loved our garden room we stayed in on your Sunday night offer and the food so tasty especially the homegrown beetroot dishes. Look forward to coming to stay again.

Perfect dinner for two!
We’ve visited The Grove on many occasions but felt this was probably the best meal we’ve had here. All the courses were beautifully cooked and presented and the service attentive but not overbearing.

Great overnight stay
Our room was well-appointed and comfortable. The beds were supportive and there was a good-sized, well-equipped en-suite bathroom The breakfast choice was excellent - one of the best I have experienced - and perfectly cooked. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Grove.
Wish we’d stayed longer!
Beautiful accommodation. We tried the restaurant (amazing) but didn’t have time to try the Sundown dining experience, the Massage Hut or Swimming Pool (all on the grounds). We did wander round the vegetable garden where the friendly gardener showed us round and explained how the produce is used in the restaurants on site - amazing!

Great independent hotel. Food was fabulous. Staff very friendly, professional and attentive. Decor slightly tired in some areas, however still very comfortable and we shall definitely be returning.

Just spent a lovely birthday weekend at The Grove. We stayed in Room 8 which was very comfortable with a huge bathroom. We really enjoyed our meal in the restaurant last night which was truly delicious. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. We will definitely come again and would highly recommend.

Perfect place to stay
This was my second visit and my families third visit to The Grove, it's just a perfect place to stay catering for all age groups. My family has stayed in the Yurts and we have stayed in one of the cottages, I think it was The Stable and this time the hotel. Everything is so close, the walk to the beach, the town and the countryside. The food is very good and staff very helpful. We will certainly be visiting again.
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay
The main pleasure is the slightly quirky old-fashioned (in a good way) ambience. The Orchard room which we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. Food is good, though you have to have a ginormous appetite. We enjoyed our exclusive use of the pool, and were lucky to have summery weather, as the gardens are lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful. In fact, as soon as we got home we booked our next visit.

Our first stay at The Grove. We loved the peaceful setting and location relative to the hubbub of Cromer. Staff were very friendly, breakfast delicious and comfy bed. Our one-night stay felt much longer and we look forward to returning. I was able to creep out early and enjoy the sunrise!!
