The Goat
UK England East Anglia Norfolk
There's nothing fancy about The Goat, it's just a good old-fashioned country pub that serves a loyal clientele with excellent local ales (always Woodforde's and usually a couple of Norfolk guest beers on tap), and hearty pub grub (steaks, burgers, fish and chips as well as more adventurous fare), in a wonderfully rural location just south of Aylsham on the edge of the Broads in Norfolk. It's a lovely place to drink and maybe have a bite to eat on a summer's evening, and it runs a year-round campsite in a large back field, with up to twenty pitches for tents and 5 for caravans, the latter with electrical hook-ups. It's a fairly basic site to be honest, but it's not the facilities you come for, and in any case it's got everything you need – a separate shower and toilet block, fresh drinking water and a barbecue for campers' use. Plus, if you're feeling lazy the pub is on hand for food, and Aylsham and Coltishall are not far away if you're after pub and restaurant alternatives. A peaceful campsite with a decent pub attached. What more could a keen camper want?
