Romantic hideaways on an organic farm in Somerset
There are five enchanting places to stay at Hinton Hideaways: two roundhouses, two treehouses and a charming pitched-roof cabin. Hand-built out of timber on the edge of a woodland that’s part of a 260-acre Somerset farm, they're as romantic as they sound and stylishly designed. Each is a beautifully crafted, adults-only bolthole that’s tucked away and all about helping you relax in nature. To that end, each has either a private hot tub or an outdoor bath; one has both, along with a sauna and an outdoor kitchen.
The Hidden House is the most luxurious of the lot and the perfect place for a special occasion stay. It’s raised on stilts above the woodland floor and offers views of the surrounding trees and the feeling you’ve arrived at your own private spa. It's one of two treehouses here – The Birdhouse is the other. But you soon realise it’s not just height that elevates Hinton Hideaways: it’s the standard of facilities, too. All of the accommodation options offer the indoor-outdoor connection of glamping, but with hotel sophistication.
These are self-contained, self-catering cabins with private indoor bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette. They have beds made up with Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathrooms with rainfall showers, and living areas with sofas and TVs. The roundhouses, The Nest and The Hide, are the most compact options, offering all this in open plan — but, whichever you choose, they all have serious style. It varies across the cabins, but all share a cool, Scandi vibe, with mid-century details here and there.
Outside, each has a deck or patio and a garden (Owl Cabin has the biggest), where you’ll find a fire pit and furniture as well as your hot tub or outdoor bath. If your chosen accommodation doesn’t have its own sauna or hot tub, you can book a private session in the shared-access woodland ones. This place is all about relaxing, and you may be happy to do just that, right here, for the duration of your stay. But there’s one outing you won’t want to miss, and that's the stroll to The Lord Poulett Arms — a gorgeous pub with a thatched roof, a lovely garden and great food, a single country mile away. If you can bear to leave your hideaway for longer, Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast is only half an hour away.
