Atherstone Farm Cottage

Situated in the tiny village of Atherstone, one of several holidays cottages on the Dillington working farm and estate in Somerset, Atherstone Farm Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage that forms part of the larger Atherstone Farmhouse, and can be either be rented on its own (it sleeps 4), or with the farmhouse (which sleeps 10).

Rented separately, Atherstone Farm Cottage is a characterful property with a thatched roof and oak beams, but like the other Dillngton properties it has been sensitively and extensively updated and comes with lots of modern features. It has 2 comfortable bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating, robes and toiletries and comfy king-size or super-king-size beds with deep mattresses. One room has a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bath and walk-in shower while the other is laid out as a wet room. Downstairs, there's a sumptuous living space that includes a well-equipped kitchen and utility room with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washer-drier, and a good-sized dining/sitting room with a 55’’ flatscreen Smart TV with a Bluetooth soundbar and comfy sofas grouped around a large stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove.

You could get very cosy in Atherstone Farm Cottage, but it would be a shame to miss out on the benefits of the rest of the Dillington estate, which take in over 3000 acres of farmland, woodland and parkland and include multiple walks on paths and country lanes you often have entirely to yourself. There's also a great farm shop a short stroll away, and a number of decent pubs within walking distance, for example the Barrington Boar, which has been written up as one of the best 30 places for a pub lunch in the UK. Try also the excellent Lord Poulett Arms, a short drive away, for dinner.
