Stylish Peak District shepherd's huts, in the grounds of the Chatsworth Estate

A cherished piece of our history, shepherd's huts were once remote shelters for those tending their flocks. Today, they offer unique accommodation, where you can get away from it all, surrounded by countryside. The Shepherd's Huts at Heathy Lea are no exception, giving guests the opportunity to relax among nature in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, within the Peak District National Park.

Part of Chatsworth Escapes, the five shepherd's huts – Fallow, Mr McGregor's Garden, Oak Tree, Stag and Woodlands – make for the perfect staycation. Mostly designed for two (except Mr McGregor’s, a family option that sleeps four across a king and bunk beds), using ethically sourced oak and insulation, they work equally well in summer and winter.

Fancy bringing your dog? Opt for Woodlands, set under a canopy of trees. Whichever hut you choose, there's outside space (whether it's a patio or garden) with furniture and a fire pit. Inside, enjoy a comfy king-sized bed, a kitchenette, a breakfast bar with stools, a log burning stove (except Mr McGregor’s) and a fully-equipped bathroom. You can even make the most of a complimentary welcome pack (and WiFi, too).

Out and about, 1000+ acres of parkland are waiting to be explored, as well as Chatsworth House itself. If you fancy a bite to eat, The Beeley Inn and The Pilsley Inn are part of the estate – both about a 10-minute drive away. The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow falls under the collection as well – an impressive country house with a three-AA-Rosette restaurant, just five minutes by car from Heathy Lea. Guests are also welcome to check out the Chatsworth Health Club, where you'll find a pool, gym and tennis court, plus the par-69 golf course. After a day discovering the area, it's back to the tranquillity of your hut for some R&R.
