The hostel at YHA Ravenstor is scenically positioned in the Peak District National Park, in a grand National Trust country house just a brief walk from Millers Dale. Standing proudly in 60 acres of elevated grounds, you'll find it high above the River Wye between Bakewell and Buxton. Ideal for groups, families and solo holidaymakers, an array of walking possibilities is easily accessible from the doorstep, including Monsal Trail, an 8.5-mile (13.7-kilometre) traffic-free route (also good for cyclists).
Inside, the former mill owner’s home features parquet flooring and open fireplaces. Facilities include a kitchen, a cosy lounge, a licensed bar, a spacious dining room, parking and WiFi. Breakfast is served daily, and evening meals are available. Sleeping up to 65, choose between shared dorms, private rooms (some en-suite) and camping pitches. If you're travelling en masse, why not hire the whole place?
Out and about, try world-class limestone rock climbing, bouldering, and caving across Millers Dale. For the less adventurous, the historic spa town of Buxton is close by, as is Bakewell, and Chatsworth House is within easy reach. There are plenty of self-guided walking routes too, including Cressbrook Dale, Litton and Tideswell, Chee Dale stepping stones, and Miller's Dale, Litton and Cressbrook.
