Midgham Farm Feather Down Farms

UK England

  • Groups welcome
Just try and resist the impossibly adorable miniature ponies.

Part of the hugely successful Feather Down Farms concept, Midgham Farm is camping for those who like their creature comforts – rustic decor and outdoor living but with comfy bedding and all mod cons thrown in including a hob, wood burner and coffee grinder. Feather Down takes pride in the details, making sure you always get a jaw-dropping view, the eggs are always ready to be collected from the chicken coop; and fresh bacon and milk is only a larder trip away. This leaves you more time to concentrate on enjoying yourself and making the most of your surroundings. You don't need a tent, as they come pre-erected, fully furnished and look somewhat close to a rural pop up palace. Feather Down use redundant land from farmers, build the tents, and then let the (more authentic) farmers look after you.

Midgham Farm is home to the Chiddock Pony Stud Farm, and more importantly, a collection of irresistibly cute miniature ponies that will be sure to delight the younger campers. Other kid-friendly treats include a trampoline, giant rope swing, and the adventures found in the surrounding woods. Go early in the summer and you'll catch the bluebells blooming, where the whole woodland, including shady Midgham Long Copse – home to the tents, is ablaze with purple-blue flowers. This is den-building country too, and departing children often leave messages for those who add to their dens after they have gone home. The River Avon is another source of activities, from fishing to paddling to picnicking sat at the furniture crafted by Henry from the woodland's fallen oaks.
