Charming safari lodges on a stunning smallholding in rural Ceredigion
A holiday with canvas and campfires involved may sound like a bit of a chore, but if you pick Canvas & Campfires – with capital Cs – you’ll find that it’s anything but. For this glamping site in a traditional Welsh valley, halfway between the Cambrian Mountains and the sea, promises the adventure of camping with none of the hassle. From the comfort of your luxury safari lodges, you can bask in the sights and sounds of the Great Outdoors, while soaking in a hot tub or dozing under a sheep's wool duvet on a Hypnos mattress in a comfy king-sized bed.
The accommodation here comes with an emphasis on space and comfort. So much so, in fact, that two of the five safari tents (Enfys and Dyffryn) have been designed with accessibility in mind. They are insulated, have wet rooms and wider, step-free access, which means everyone is welcome to enjoy what’s on offer at this tranquil spot.
Each safari tent sleeps up to six in two bedrooms plus a cupboard bed. There are wooden floors throughout, electricity, running water and a proper flushing loo. The living space is open plan and features a log-burning stove, a kitchenette with a fridge, a hob and cupboards that are properly stocked with pans and utensils – and if you do need anything else, there’s an onsite honesty shop for basics.
If you prefer the bricks and mortar option, there’s always Beudy Bach – a converted 18th-century cowshed overlooking the pond that’s now a cosy romantic bolthole for couples (complete with wood-fired hot tub). Whichever you choose, all the accommodation here is well-equipped, super-comfy, and perfectly blends a thoroughly outdoors experience with little touches of luxury. That includes the magic of a campfire under a starry night sky, breathtaking views across the valley, possibly a dip in a hot tub, collecting eggs from the resident hens, bat-spotting at dusk, and lots of fresh air to recharge your batteries.
The site is part of an 11-acre smallholding and you're welcome to join owners Ellie and Dan as they make their daily rounds of the farm. It’s all about the outdoors here, whether you stay onsite or head out to explore: the Ceredigion coast, the Cambrian Mountains and Brechfa Forest are just some of the dramatic landscapes close by. And for food and other diversions, Lampeter is less than 10 minutes’ drive, and the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron only 20 minutes.

Suitable For
Canvas & Campfires is best suited to those looking to slow down and reconnect, whether that is couples seeking a peaceful escape, families wanting space for children to explore, or friends gathering for relaxed time together in nature. Our setting works especially well for guests who appreciate the outdoors, campfires, fresh air and starry skies, while still enjoying the comfort of proper beds and private bathrooms. We are happy to host group celebrations with sleeping for up to 32 on site.
We welcome well-behaved, and also slightly mischievous dogs, we know they are part of the family and love the countryside just as much as we do.
One person in each party has to be over 18, but other than that there are no strict age restrictions, and we welcome families with children. As we are a rural smallholding with open water, firepits, farm animals and wildlife, we simply ask that children are supervised so everyone can enjoy the site safely and respectfully.
Nearby
One of the things we love most about being here is the variety on our doorstep. We are tucked away in peaceful Ceredigion countryside, yet just a short drive from some of West Wales’ most beautiful beaches. New Quay, Penbryn, Llangrannog and Aberporth are firm favourites for sandy walks, dolphin spotting and fish and chips by the sea.Food & Drink
We are very lucky to have some wonderful places to eat and drink nearby, and we are always happy to share our latest favourites with guests.
For a the best fish and chips we recommend The Lime Crab in New Quay. In Aberaeron, The Harbourmaster is perfect for something a little more special, known for its seasonal menus and waterside setting, Y Seler and the Hive in Aberaeron are also great and Angelato's is amazing for ice cream after a wander around the colourful harbour.
For cosy pub evenings, The Daffodil in Penrhiwllan and Y Talbot in Tregaron offers excellent, locally sourced food and a welcoming atmosphere.
There are also fantastic local farm shops, bakeries and delis in the area, so many of our guests enjoy Watson and Pratts in Lampeter and Aberaeron and Jones the butchers in College Street Lampeter and Y Bewcs a bakery also on College Street.
