You won't regret booking the glamping accommodation at The Laundry. For couples looking for somewhere peaceful and secluded to relax, it doesn’t get much better than these two timber roundhouses, which are very much at the top end of the luxury glamping scale, with high-quality bedding, bath robes, underfloor heating and en-suite bathrooms. The Tilia roundhouse has slick Scandi style features while the log cabin-inspired Ilex has a slightly more rustic feel. As an adults-only outdoor retreat, it's fantastic option, right down to the excellent wifi and carefully chosen, locally baked sourdough bread provided in the welcome hamper.
The Laundry Retreat is basically your dream boutique hotel, but outdoors – they even have heated towel rails and hairdryers for guests' use! Each roundhouse has its own wraparound deck with a sheltered outdoor cooking area with oven and hob plus a mini kitchen inside, equipped with fridge, toaster and kettle. Tilia comes with a sunken fire pit and both roundhouses have covered seating areas which face east to Moel Famau and the Clwydian hills, with sensational views. Guests have use of the beautiful walled garden, lovingly tended to by owners Tom and Jenny, who live in the 18th-century former laundry that gives this site its name and once serviced the rather grand Llanrhaedr Hall next door. Tom and Jenny also run The Laundry as a one-room B&B, so even your refusenik glamping friends can join you!
Finally the location is very special. The village has a pretty church with a noteworthy window and a great family-run restaurant. There’s a cosy local pub a couple of villages away that’s does excellent food and plenty of walking in the near area too. And, just in case that’s not enough, virtually the whole of North Wales is within an hour’s scenic drive of your luxury accommodation.

Nearby
The Laundry is at the foot of the Clwydian range of mountains, with the two most spectacular of the hills – Moel Famau (the highest) and Moel Arthur (the remains of an iron-age hill fort) – both less than 15 minutes away by car. Neither are overly demanding walks, though Moel Famau has a couple of different carparks and multiple routes to choose from, so you can make it as demanding as you like. The views from the top are spectacular, with Liverpool and the Wirral, Snowdonia and Cheshire all visible on a clear day. The Offa’s Dyke path is the longest walk in the vale of Clwyd and runs along the top of the range taking in both of the hills mentioned. If you want to walk directly from The Laundry, try the pretty route up to the well above St Dyfnog’s Church. In the middle ages St. Dyfnog’s well became a place of pilgrimage and healing. The church is well known for its Jesse window, completed on 1533. The tower dates back to the 1200’s. Anvil Pottery (01745 890532) is situated opposite the church in the old smithy. The workshop is open to public view (The Laundry use Anvil pottery bowls and platters for serving your breakfast). It's a five-minute drive to the market town of Denbigh – Denbigh Castle, with a history dating back to the 1200’s, overlooks the town – and a 10-minute drive in the opposite direction to Ruthin. Check out Ruthin Gaol (01824 708281), where you can learn about life in the Victorian prison system, while Ruthin Craft Centre (01824 704774), St Peters Square and Ruthin Castle (01824 702664) are all worth a visit. Bodnant Gardens are a 40 minute drive away. Snowdonia, Conwy, Llandudno and their many associated attractions are a fraction over an hour away.
Food & Drink
A complimentary welcome hamper of locally produced and homemade food is provided in your Roundhouse on your arrival. It's a 10-minute walk down the road to the family-run gastro pub Nant y Felin (01745 890834) in the village. If you do the walk we mention to St Dyfnog’s Church, there is a good pub opposite – The Kings Head (01745 890278). It's a 10-minute drive to The White Horse (01824 790218) in Hendrerwydd, which comes highly recommended, and The Dinorben Arms (01745 775090) in Bodfari boasts some of the best views in the area.
