We are huge fans of the Four Sisters Boatel so you can imagine how happy we were to hear that they were adding a new member to their family of city centre self-catering houseboats that are conveniently moored in Edinburgh city centre. The Camillia is a worthy addition, comfortably sleeping up to eight adults in three two-bed cabins plus a double sofa bed in the lounge area.

Moored alongside its Four Sisters, er, sister, the wide-beamed Camillia is a contemporary gem, designed by a specialist team and purpose-built by a specialist Liverpool boatyard using sustainable, high quality materials. Decked out in the same dark green as its sister, it cuts quite a dash at its mooring and makes for a unique place from which to enjoy the best of Edinburgh. It's more spacious than its neighbour, with an extra foot of head-space and a more open-plan layout, and a larger shower room.

On board, the boat is equipped like a high-end luxury apartment, with everything from a 43-inch flatscreen Smart TV with Netflix and two further smaller TVs to an Alexa speaker, complimentary tea and coffee and mineral water, towels and linen as well as thoughtful extras like fishing rods and cagoules, books and games, sun loungers and a picnic blanket, even an ironing board for those big nights out in the city centre. There's small kitchenette, the wifi is good and dogs are welcome, too, plus the Camillia's deck is a perfect place to sit and take in the waterfront over a glass of wine in the evening. The boat's friendly owner Natalie can advise on what to see and do while you're here, and can even arrange dinner, barbecues or other events if you contact her in advance.

The location is very central, just 5 minutes'  walk from Edinburgh's funky West End district and 10 minutes' from the city centre proper. Exploring Edinburgh and coming back to your own houseboat at night is a great way to experience the city, for a family, a group of friends or just a couple looking for somewhere different to stay. It's hard to imagine a better or more unique spot for an extended break in Edinburgh.
