Out in the West End of the city, Roseate Edinburgh Houses is a boutique hotel with a difference, with 35 rooms spread across two Victorian townhouses, set across the road from each other. The vibe is elegant rooms with a light, Neoclassical touch, understated and welcoming. Rooms range from cosy singles and doubles to luxury kings, and there are some fabulous suites – a roll-top copper bath here, a free-standing silver tub there, plus very handsome beds, rugs and furniture throughout. It’s ‘country-house hotel in the city’, with things like good quality bed linen, coffee-and tea-making facilities, homemade biccies and artisan toiletries helping you to relax into it. There’s also a rather fine bar, a gem of a garden, and a restaurant that offers all-day dining and a great, thoroughly Scottish menu.
