Idyllically located within its own 20 acres of prime Herefordshire woodland, next to a gently flowing stream, Glasnant is a property like no other – except perhaps its smaller nearby sister property, High Park! Not only is it a very large house, with seven enormous bedrooms that can easily accommodate 14 people, it's also a fabulously luxurious country retreat which couldn't be more ideal for a large family group or gang of friends looking for somewhere to really leave the rest of the world behind. Once here you will not want to leave; and once you have been here, you will want to come back again and again to experience its peculiar sense of peace and tranquillity. Pets are welcome and they have facilities for babies and toddlers — high chairs, cots, etc – making it a perfect family house.

Of the property's seven bedrooms, three are king-size doubles with their own en-suite bathrooms; one has a super-king-size bed, two more have king-size beds, and there's also a twin bedroom that's large enough for two double beds. The ground floor includes a cinema room, a large living space with a Smart TV and bluetooth speaker, and a kitchen that seems to be equipped with 2 of everything — 2 dishwashers, 2 fridges, plus an electric oven and hob, microwave, and pretty much anything else kitchen-related that you could think of. The owners also lay on a thoughtful welcome hamper on arrival crammed full of useful goodies, from a bottle of fizz and homegrown produce to bathrobes for each guest and logs for the fire. It would be a mistake to get so comfortable that you don't venture outside because the house's location is in a way its best feature — perfectly secluded in its own patch of woodland countryside, with precious little to intrude from outside.

There's a barbecue and firepit close to the house, a hot tub from which to enjoy the stunningly clear night skies, and you could spend a very happy few days just ambling about in the grounds. However, just in case the novelty wears off, it's nice to know that you're actually closer to civilisation than you thought; nearby Hay-on-Wye, famous for its secondhand bookstores and May literary festival, is worth a visit at any time of year. The house is also well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside on foot or by bike, in particular the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park.
