The recently unveiled Lookout is a luxurious self-catering coastal residence under The Cornwall Hotel Collection. Part of the historic 57-room Atlantic, it's set over two floors, and there's space for up to eight guests – the perfect retreat for longer breaks. From its elevated, private position, savour uninterrupted ocean panoramas from the floor-to-ceiling windows or balcony, yet you're just moments from Newquay.
A local interior designer headed up the renovations, using soft textures, shades of blue, and natural materials. Upstairs, discover an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, while down a level is the king-size master, which comes complete with a sofabed. The second bedroom has bunks, plus either a twin or double. Meanwhile, in the high-ceilinged bathroom, you'll find a walk-in shower.
During your stay, enjoy the hotel's facilities. Silks, The Atlantic's ocean-facing restaurant, has a bar designed by Harrods in the 30s, and food-wise, order dishes such as monkfish and king prawn tempura with lime and chilli dressing, Caesar bowl, pan-seared gnocchi with feta, olives and fire-roasted peppers, or classics like steak, fish and chips and burgers. Meanwhile, the spa also makes the most of the fabulous vistas, with an indoor heated pool, a hot tub and a treatment room, all overlooking the water, plus a sauna and steam room.
In an enviable location perched on a headland high above Towan, Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze and Porth beaches, The Lookout offers the best of both worlds: privacy, plus the chance to dip in and out of the hotel's amenities.
