Occupying a prime position with tables spilling out towards the harbour's edge, The Basement is a busy little place from breakfast through to dinner. An undercover seating area means you can enjoy sea views whatever the weather, but it's not just the location that makes this a popular place to wine and dine. Food is simple and seasonal with a seafood bias, summing up the best of the area's produce on each plate: Padstow mussels, Cornish cheeses, crab cakes, seafood curry or catch of the day. Don't shy away if you don't fancy fish; there's also the likes of woodland gnocchi, locally-reared beef and free-range chicken to tuck into.
