The seven cottages at Higher Menadew Farm offer all the freedom of a self-catering stay in Cornwall, paired with facilities you’d usually expect from somewhere much larger. Guests enjoy shared access to a heated indoor swimming pool, with exclusive sessions for a relaxed, uncrowded experience, a well-equipped games room, and an excellent outdoor play area for children. Still family-run and a working farm, Higher Menadew exudes authentic homely charm and a warm, genuinely welcoming feel.
It’s perfectly located too, just 15 minutes from the coast and the beach at Porthpean, a quarter of an hour from the picturesque harbour village of Charlestown, and even closer to the world-famous Eden Project. The cottages are perfect for families but equally welcoming for couples or friends seeking a peaceful Cornish retreat. All but the smallest – Ryland, a cosy studio-style bolthole for two – include a double bedroom and one or two twins, with space for a cot in most. Highchairs and stairgates can be provided as well, reflecting the thoughtful touches that run throughout these well-equipped holiday homes, which come with everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Whether you choose a two-bedroom cottage like Byron, Lamorna, Haydon or Trebowan, or one of the three-bedroom properties – Rafters or Swallow’s Nest – each retains a charming country-cottage feel, making them ideal for families or couples looking for a relaxing getaway. Converted from former traditional farm buildings, the cottages feature exposed beams and thick stone walls, blending rustic character with modern comfort in a timeless, cosy style. Wooden floors and light-painted walls are warmed by rugs, soft furnishings and country or coastal prints, while farmhouse dining tables, comfy sofas, and high-quality beds are all made up and ready for your arrival. Every cottage is centrally heated, and some include log burners for extra cosy evenings. For entertainment and relaxation, you’ll find WiFi, Smart TVs, outdoor spaces, gardens and patios, a games room and the heated pool.
The location is equally excellent. The south coast is on your doorstep, while the north coast is easily reached in around half an hour, making it simple to explore Cornwall’s stunning beaches, charming fishing villages and dramatic coastline. Not only is there plenty to do nearby, but you’re also well placed for exploring Cornwall, with the A30 just a few minutes’ drive away. Getting out and about is only half the attraction of a holiday here, though – with facilities like these, you’ll want to factor in some relaxation time, and you may find the biggest challenge is persuading the children to leave!

From the A30 take the exit for St Austell on the A391. Follow this road for just under a mile to Lockengate then turn left towards Bodwen, Luxulyan and Ebenezer. Keep on this road until you get to Ebenezer by the Danish Crown sign. Turn right, signposted to St Austell. After a further half a mile, take the first turning on the right.
