Head of the River

- 20 Guest Rooms
- Contemporary Pub with Rooms
Long a favoured destination for students and visitors alike, the well-known Head of the River features an unrivalled location, right by the river and Folly Bridge, with Christ Church Meadow spreading behind for lazy rambles. You’re a little bit out of the centre, but only a little – say a 15-minute walk to the Covered Market or the Bodleian – and you’re set fair for some classic shots of boats and rowing eights out on the river.
It’s a Fuller’s pub with a terrific waterside terrace, serving fancied-up pub food all day until 9pm, so it’s great for anything from a morning coffee to late-night drink. Stay the night, and there are 20 individually furnished rooms available – Cosy, Comfy and Indulgence, in the parlance, which in practice means a bit more space in some and some fluctuating amenities in others (like river views from the Indulgence rooms). There’s proper coffee in the rooms, and a good pub breakfast served in the morning.
