Christ Church College
St Aldates Oxford OX1 1DP
If ever there was a spot that highlights Oxford’s two worlds, this has to be it. Step into the quadrangles, the refectory and the chapel, and you’re in a place of peace and reflection which is a vast contrast to the ordinary city street outside. Every schoolboy knows that for a place to be a ‘city’, it has to have a cathedral – the chapel of Christ Church college counts as Oxford’s cathedral. The college plays an important role in the life of English storytelling: it’s here that Alice, of Wonderland fame, became friends with Lewis Carroll, and Harry Potter fans may also recognise Hogwarts’ Great Hall.
