A romantic retreat for two on your own country estate just outside Edinburgh
The Boathouse is located on a fabulous 400-acre estate close to South Queensferry, just a short drive from Edinburgh City Centre. This quaint property sits on the bank of the estate's very own loch, an idyllic place to stay in an almost impossibly picturesque location. The grounds as a whole are gorgeous, varying from mature trees and broad meadows stretching into the far distance.
The Boathouse is an almost impossibly picturesque place to stay in an almost impossibly picturesque location. The grounds are beautiful, varying from manicured lawns to copses of mature trees and broad meadows stretching into the far distance, and it's hard to believe that you have your own Scottish country estate to explore.
It's a romantic escape par excellence, with an open-plan bedroom and living area, and a waterfront verandah that boasts amazing views across the water.  There's an en-suite shower room, with bathrobes and towels and L'Occitaine toiletries as well kitted-out kitchen with a Tassimo coffee machine. The Boathouse also comes complete with wifi, a TV and a DVD player. As a place to relax and unwind, it takes some beating, and Edinburgh feels very far away, despite being just half an hour away by car.
You'll probably find there's plenty to keep you occupied within the boundaries of the estate, with walks galore through the expansive grounds. If you do feel the need to stray further, South Queensferry is just a couple of minutes' away by car. A popular coastal village with some brilliant restaurants and magnificent views of the famous Forth bridges; Hopetoun House is another fabulous estate that's also featured in a movie or two; plus you're only a 20-minute drive from Falkirk's famous giant contemporary horse sculptures, The Kelpies. But you'll be glad to return to your loch-side love-nest at the end of the day, where you only have ducks, swans and geese for company.
Dundas Castle is also located within the estate but as it is a private family home, the owners ask that you only walk around the marked routes outwith the vicinity of the Castle.
