The central London sister to their other London hotels in Shoreditch and Southwark, the Hoxton’s Holborn branch is just as self-consciously sociable and stylish, with the group’s trademark welcoming and wide lobby area, usually full of young folk on laptops nursing a flat white or artisanal water. Beyond the lobby, its rooms are cosy yet chic and stylish, it has a terrific restaurant and is a great choice for those wanting to explore central London on foot – you can reach a lot of city’s sights and attractions from here without ever setting foot on a bus or a train.

Occupying a former British Telecom office building, Hoxton’s Holborn premises is a 220-room hotel that feels much more boutique than it actually is. As with all the Hoxtons, room categories vary from ‘Shoebox’ – the smallest – through ‘Cosy’ – the most common – up to 30-square-metre ‘Biggies’. The look and feel of most of the rooms is stripped back, with spacious black-tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers, but all the rooms are comfortable and cosy and provided with the same amenities: air-conditioning, tea and coffee, complimentary fresh milk and water, Roberts Radios and flatscreen Freeview TVs. Dogs are permitted in many rooms and throughout all the public spaces except the restaurant.

The hotel has two bars at each end of the lobby and two restaurants the ground floor Rondo and the basement ‘Rondo Le Cave’. The latter specializes in natural wines and trials new restaurant concepts before they roll them out at other Hoxtons around the world, so expect anything from Peruvian cuisine to gourmet pizzas! The Rondo serves a Modern British menu that incorporates lots of fresh seasonal produce and includes plenty of veggie options. You can also order from a bar menu in the lobby, featuring homemade focaccia sandwiches, burgers and cheese and charcuterie plates.
