Beechwood Hotel

- 20 Guest Rooms
- Boutique Country Hotel
It’s pretty traditional in style, with seventeen beautifully furnished rooms that hark back to the days of Agatha Christie (who was a regular guest here when it was a private house). There are also four rather more contemporary double rooms in Bay Tree House next door, added a couple of years ago and furnished to a very high standard. All the rooms – in both houses – have free wifi, IPod docking stations, flatscreen TVs and spacious bathrooms (a couple with freestanding baths). They have dog friendly rooms available in all categories for a small charge.
The main house is full of Christie memorabilia, and there’s an easy-going, old-fashioned charm to the place that’s infectious. There’s a cosy bar and a lovely small garden out the back, plus a really excellent restaurant, whose chef has been here for two decades and who presents a high-quality menu that changes daily and is all based on locally-sourced produce – they're famous for their 'ten-mile dinner' (the furthest away chef likes to get his ingredients). They also serve lunch and afternoon tea.

The Owner Says
We think the Beechwood is great for seeing an area stacked with things to see and do, whether it's the nearby coast or the Broads, immediately to the south (although Hugh, Emma and the team will make you feel so welcome you may not want to leave!)

Getting There
The Beechwood is on the northwestern side of North Walsham's tiny centre. Approaching from the south on the main A149, make a right at the second set of traffic lights onto Cromer Road and the hotel is on the left. From North Walsham train station, walk down to the main A149, cross over into the town centre and follow King Arms St and then Market St to where it meets Cromer Road and turn left; the hotel is on the right – a 5–10-minute walk.
