About a mile from the river at Thurne, this long-standing Norfolk Broads camping and glamping site was fashioned by John Lindsay out of the wooded grounds of his home at Clippesby Hall, and is a wonderful location for exploring the Broads National Park – on foot, by bike, or even by boat. It has great facilities too – its own pub, an outdoor swimming pool, bike rental, a shop and a café, and its; dog friendly too.

What’s more, the people who run the place are passionate about their site and the Broads, an run an information centre that can advise on cycle routes and walks, local sights and attractions, and much more. As well as the year-round camping, and a very desirable shepherds hut, they have some very comfortable wooden lodges in the trees that can accommodate up to 6 people, and a number of courtyard cottages sleeping 2–8 people, all of which benefit from the sheltered, marvellously bucolic feel of the site. If we were to choose a place to stay from which to explore the Broads National Park, this might well be it.
