A self-catering barn conversion, spa and yoga retreat offering rural peace and charm, all just a hop from London.
Situated deep in the Kent countryside, there's nowhere else quite like Green Farm, a charming, multi-purpose site surrounded by 12,500 acres of ancient woodland and traditional pastures, home to a self-contained and very comfortable award-winning barn conversion, a unique spa and bespoke wellbeing retreats. What's more, the fast train from London to the nearest station takes only 40 minutes.

The lovingly refurbished nineteenth-century barn is perfect for family gatherings or group getaways: sleeping 12 (up to 14 upon request), it includes two double bedrooms with super-king-size beds and two triples, all with private or shared en-suites. There’s a modern kitchen, spacious living room with a large flatscreen TV, DVD player and music system, and extra capacity in the converted cow shed next door. Fancy kicking back and having a chef cook in-house one night? That can easily be arranged. Equally, affable owners MaryAnn and Martin are happy to cater breakfasts and evening meals, making use of produce from their impressive community kitchen garden. And if guests would like a wine tasting at the property, that can be booked in with local winery Chapel Down.

There are of course the obvious attractions of hiking and cycling in its private woodlands, not to mention getting to know the animals on what is a genuine working farm; the pigs enjoy being thrown a few apples to munch on. Rolling farmland spreads down to Romney Marsh and the sea, and there are endless opportunities to go exploring beyond the property; nearby attractions include the famous gardens of Sissinghurst and Biddenden Vineyard, plus there are plenty of great local village pubs –  The Kings Head is just a five-minute walk away and serves classics such as sausage and mash and steak and ale pie. But what really sets Green Farm apart is its spa, which offers the chance to really relax and unwind in these beautiful surroundings. The facilities are excellent, with a sauna and 2 six-person outdoor hot tubs, ESPA products and treatment rooms offering everything from deep tissue and hot stone massages to detox wraps and pre- and post-natal treatments. They also offer regular yoga and fitness classes, art and gardening workshops.

MaryAnn and Martin – who live on-site in their Grade-II listed country farmhouse – place much emphasis on the retreats and spa stays they organise, an increasingly important and satisfying segment of the growing business. The ethos? To provide all you would expect from a 5* hotel, in a homely setting, with super personal service. Guests spend a night or two in one of the luxe bedrooms of the characterful 15th century home and are encouraged to make the most of the house and grounds; lounge about in fluffy robes, or don a pair of wellies and explore the 50 acres of meadows. As part of the spa package, luxuriate with the likes of a manicure or body wrap, ideal for a romantic break, or indeed a Hen party; whilst the retreats on offer range from food and yoga to pilates, each well-organised with classes and talks, seasonal meals and use of the spa.

All in all, Green Farm is an amazingly tranquil spot in the Garden of England, with first-rate facilities and access to scenic countryside – all just a stone's throw from the hurly-burly of London.
