A summery hotspot, the Ypres Castle Inn is the place to come and sit outside by the big old cannons in the Gun Gardens that keep guard over the flats, with fantastic views across the Romney Marsh and the local rivers. Inside there are wing back chairs and a toasty fire when the chill descends. There’s a good selection of ales and a menu of local organic meats and fresh local veg, topped off, as is proper for a Rye eatery, with a top-notch seafood platter. The decor of the pub seems unchanged in its long history, not that this makes it outdated, far from it. It's a traditional old Rye pub and a lovely place to be.
