Sage Cottage
South East England East Sussex Ditchling
- From £77 a night
- Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms
- Cottage
Upstairs, the primary bedroom is a super king, complete with an inglenook fireplace and decorated in blue and white tones; the other is a twin – small but comfortable, and dressed in top-quality linen. Head down and you'll find the bathroom with a shower over the tub, plus fluffy towels and toiletries. When it comes to relaxing, make yourself at home in the cosy lounge, where the electric stove fire will keep you warm on cold evenings. Come summertime? The secluded garden is perfect for an alfresco meal or drink. Speaking of food, the country-chic kitchen is well-equipped, with the essential appliances covered – oven, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker. There's a washing machine too. If you'd rather not cook, plenty of places are just a stone's throw away, from The Bull and The White Horse to The Nutmeg Tree and The Green Welly.
What you have here is the ideal spot for a peaceful break in the countryside, yet you're just 12 kilometres north of Brighton – a 20-minute drive – and a quarter of an hour west of historic Lewes. That being said, you may well prefer to stick to your immediate surroundings, lovely as they are. Why not hit the South Downs Way for a stroll? You'll discover tons of routes, including a circular trail to the Grade II-listed Jack & Jill Windmills. From there, savour the fabulous views across the Sussex Weald before heading to a nearby pub. You can take your dog on your jaunts as well – Sage Cottage is pet-welcoming. If walking doesn't float your boat, we recommend visiting Ridgeview for a vineyard tour, before enjoying a meal at the on-site restaurant, accompanied by some of their award-winning sparkling wine. And then back to Sage Cottage to kick back and plan tomorrow's adventure. A trip to the renowned Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft maybe?
