The Piggery at John Bulls House

Enjoying a gorgeous location surrounded by rolling pastures and ancient woodland, there's never been a piggery like this The Piggery at John Bull's House. Basically a former farm building that's been converted into a high-end single-level holiday cottage that just happens to be right in the middle of the South Downs National Park, it's a holiday let like no other: luxurious, cosy and with every possible whim thought about and taken care of.

At its heart, The Piggery is an open-plan, oak-beamed living space with two comfy sofas and a wall-mounted Smart TV, and a large dining table and chairs. There's fast wifi throughout and the natural stone flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading out to the patio combine to create a light, spacious and contemporary feel, with underfloor heating and a well-equipped kitchen with a Bosch electric oven and induction hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine with dryer. The Piggery has one large bedroom with a king-size bed and luxury mattress, Egyptian cotton bed linen, bedside tables with reading lamps, built-in wardrobes and drawers and another wall-mounted Smart TV. It also has a sofa bed which is perfect for one child and a travel cot is also available, making this an ideal property for a young family as well as a couple. The adjacent wet room is fully tiled with underfloor heating, a large rainfall shower, washbasin and heated towel rail.

Outside, the patio has a barbecue and firepit for al fresco evenings, as well as eco-friendly Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub making it into the ultimate couples' retreat – the owners even provide champagne glasses, dressing gowns and slippers to make you feel properly pampered! Beyond here, there's a private garden overlooking a pond, and – assuming you can bring yourselves to leave – bikes can be rented for exploring the surrounding area. And for larger groups, they also offer two luxury shepherds huts, each for two people, that can also be rented on their own.

Just off the A23 London-Brighton road, The Piggery is very easy to reach, but it has the benefit of feeling very rural and secluded. There are lots of country walks and cycle paths nearby, and it's not far from the pretty villages of Warninglid, Slaugham and Cuckfield. The Crabtree Pub at Lower Bleeding is within walking distance and you're also very close to the popular vineyards of the Bolney Wine Estate and another good pub, The Bolney Stage. All just an hour or so from London!
