Marine Point and Seafarers

UK England South West England Cornwall Mevagissey

7 Nare Court Polkirt Hill Mevagissey Cornwall PL26 6UX

A bright, contemporary apartment and former coastguard's cottage overlooking Mevagissey's folksy harbour.

Situated right above the harbour in the popular southern Cornwall tourist hotspot of Mevagissey, Marine Point (in Nare Court) is a spacious apartment that makes a perfect base for exploring the town and its many nearby attractions, or just a chilled-out place to sit on your balcony and watch the fishing boats coming and going.

It's a great antidote to folksy Mevagissey, there's no doubt, a luxurious space decorated in contemporary style, with leather sofas, oak woodwork, limestone tiling and Cornish artwork, complemented by superfast wifi and smart TVs. There are three bedrooms in all – a double, a twin and a single – all with luxurious pocket sprung mattresses, TVs and iPod docking stations, and one – the double – with an en-suite shower-room. The other two share a family bathroom.

The same people also own Seafarers, a former coastguard's cottage on the other side of the harbour, which is kitted out to an equally high standard while losing none of its natural charm, with a well-equipped kitchen, sitting room, family bathroom and two bedrooms furnished with comfy beds and high-end bed linen; plus there are flatscreen smart TVs and superfast wifi to enjoy from leather recliners when the views pall or the clouds come over.

Mevagissey itself is one of Cornwall's most attractive fishing ports, with a maze of back streets and back alleys to explore, and is an excellent base for some of Cornwall's most iconic attractions – the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the world-renowned Eden Project are just a short drive away, and there are great nearby beaches at Portmellon, Gorran Haven, Hemick and Vault Beach. Mevagissey is one of south Cornwall's tourist honeypots and very busy during the day, so it's nice to be one of the relatively few left in the evening by actually staying in the town, which takes on a different aspect when everything has calmed down a bit and it's lovely to stroll down to one of the town's restaurants or out to the lighthouse.
