Beautiful holiday cottages on a working dairy farm on the Isle of Wight

Located just outside Yarmouth, on the western side of the Isle of Wight, Tapnell Farm is a working, family-run dairy farm with 360-degree views, a beautiful rural setting and the best sunsets in the south. It has several high-quality self-catering options, from farm cottages to manor house, and is really great if you're staying with extended family or a group of friends as the accommodation is very spacious and there's so much to do on site.

At the heart of the farm, the Dairyman’s Cottage has panoramic views of Tennyson Down, and sleeps up to eight in two king/twin bedrooms and two double bedrooms, all en-suite. It's decorated with a kind of rustic, shabby chic feel – sea-grass carpets and wood laminate flooring throughout, beautiful bespoke fabrics, luxury en-suite bedrooms and a high-spec open-plan living area and kitchen. There is a downstairs bedroom and wet room with full disabled access, as well as a garden and patio area with its own barbecue, and a log-burning hot tub that's perfect for soothing aching muscles after a long day of walking – or just relaxing under the stars with a glass of wine. Stockbridge Cottage, on the edge of the farm, sleeps up to 12 and has views over rolling countryside and down towards Freshwater Bay. It's also tastefully decorated, and has a large garden surrounding the house, complete with adventure playground. If you need room for an even bigger family or group of friends, then there's East Afton Farmhouse, with 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, roof-terrace hot tub, cinema room, games area and private courtyard. Or, biggest of all, try Tapnell Manor with its rustic charm, 10 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, electric hot tub, games area and large living spaces.

The cottages are right on the doorstep of several footpaths and within driving distance of Freshwater and other great beaches, but there's lots to do on site too. You can pet the lambs and collect eggs from the free-range hens, and there's clay pigeon shooting, pedal go-karts, zip wires, adventure activities and more. The farm is also home to Tom's Eco-Lodge, whose fab safari tents, cabins, pods and lodges put the glam into glamping. Meanwhile, the Cow Co restaurant has lots of scrumptious beef and dairy dishes, or head over to the honesty larder for all of those handy bits and bobs that got left behind. Many people come back here year after year – we bet you will too.
