Tapnell Farm Cottages

UK England South East England Isle Of Wight

Tapnell Farm, Newport Road, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight PO41 0YJ

Beautiful holiday cottages on a working dairy farm on the Isle of Wight

Located just outside Yarmouth,  on the western side of the Isle of Wight, Tapnell Farm is a working, family-run dairy farm with two self-catering cottages available, not to mention the huge 10-bedroomed Tapnell Manor Farmhouse, all of which have spectacular views over the Solent.

The large Dairyman's Cottage (sleeps 8) is finished to a very high standard, decorated with a kind of rustic, shabby chic feel – sea-grass carpets and wood laminate flooring throughout, beautiful bespoke fabrics, luxury en-suite bedrooms and a high-spec open-plan living area and kitchen. There is a downstairs bedroom and wet room with full disabled access, as well as a garden and patio area with its own barbecue, and a log-burning hot tub that's perfect for soothing aching muscles after a long day of walking – or just relaxing under the stars with a glass of wine. Stockbridge Cottage (sleeps 8) has views over the rolling countryside and down towards Freshwater Bay, and is the ideal retreat for couples, small groups and families hoping to get away from it all for a few days. It's also tastefully decorated, and has a large garden surrounding the house, complete with play frame.

The cottages are right on the doorstep of several footpaths and within driving distance of Freshwater and other great beaches. You can also do a tour of Tapnell Farm Park if you like, and staying here gives a proper insight into life in the countryside, with lots of lambs to pet, 'rescue hens' to collect eggs from and other animals to make friends with.  The farm is also home to Tom's Eco-Lodge, whose fab safari tents, cabins and lodges put the glam into glamping. Meanwhile, the Cow Co restaurant has lots of scrumptious beef and dairy dishes, and the Gift Shop & Gallery features Isle of Wight art and produce. Or head over to the honesty larder for all of those handy bits and bobs that got left behind. There's also clay pigeon shooting, adventure activities and much more. Many people come back here year after year – we bet you will too.
