A famous tale is recounted about Lyminster in West Sussex, about a dragon that frightened villagers from its lair. Slain by a brave local man many moons ago, peace finally reigned. Fast forward to present day, and Lyminster remains a tranquil spot, enticing holidaymakers keen to explore the surrounding countryside and nearby coast, including the South Downs National Park and Climping Beach.
For a characterful place to stay, Courtyard Cottage is a contemporary two-bedroom property for up to four people, with crisp neutral tones and stylish furniture. That being said, there's character too, from wooden beams to an array of artwork.
Attached to the owners’ home, the cottage is ideal for friends, couples or small families. On the ground floor, you'll find a cosy living space with plenty of seating and a dining table, plus a separate, well-equipped kitchen. Head upstairs for two super-comfortable bedrooms – one king-size, the other with two singles – plus a modern bathroom featuring sage green, brass fixtures and a bath/shower. Back downstairs, make your way outside and kick back in the serene enclosed garden.
Just two miles south of historic Arundel and the same north of Littlehampton, you're perfectly placed to explore all West Sussex has to offer, from wineries like Tinwood and Nyetimber to walking trails and cycling in the Downs.
