A very comfortable two-bedroom cottage above the popular tourist town of Mevagissey.

It's a former coastguard's cottage, so you'd expect the sea views to be pretty good, but this beautifully refurbished terraced house, situated at the end of a quiet, private road, makes an unusually comfortable perch from which to watch the comings and goings down below in Mevagissey's picturesque harbour.

The house has been kitted out to a high standard while losing none of its natural charm, with a well-equipped kitchen, sitting room, family bathroom and two bedrooms furnished with comfy beds and high-end bed linen; plus there are flatscreen smart TVs and superfast wifi to enjoy from leather recliners when the views pall or the clouds come over.

As a gateway to the Roseland Peninsula, with its coves and beachside cafés, the town is one of south Cornwall's tourist honeypots, so it's also nice to be one of the relatively few left in the evening by actually staying in the town, which takes on a different aspect when everything has calmed down a bit and it's lovely to stroll down to one of the town's restaurants or out to the lighthouse.

The house also has its own parking spot – a premium here in Mevagissey, which is busy for a reason: it's one of Cornwall's most attractive fishing ports, with a maze of back streets and back alleys to explore. It's also an excellent base for some of Cornwall's most iconic attractions – the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the world-renowned Eden Project are just a short drive away, and there are great nearby beaches at Portmellon, Gorran Haven, Hemick and Vault Beach. Finally, if there is no availability at Seafarers, try Marine Point across the harbour, which has similarly lovely views and is owned by the same people.
