Little White Alice
South West England Cornwall Falmouth
When you come to Cornwall you don't have to stay bang on the beach. Yes, the coastline is stunning, but away from the crowds that flock there Cornwall's countryside is infused with a more peaceful beauty. And it's precisely that tranquillity that you will find at Little White Alice, situated just 20 minutes from both coasts and a short hop from the watersports haven of Stithians Lake.
Little White Alice is a eco-friendly cluster of holiday cottages with an arty bent, set in 29 acres of its own grounds, where they've planted their own woodland and created a wilderness area in an area of heathland. There are four cottages in all (each named after trees in the Celtic tree calendar): two are timber-clad 'Eco Arks', called Luis and and Uath – basically, grand takes on shepherd's huts, and a perfect romantic retreat for couples as well as a great option for families with small children. There's also Ash, a more conventional converted stone barn, suitable for a family or two couples, and the one-bedroom Alder House – situated in another wing of the barn and good for elderly or disabled guests in that it's all on one level. Each property comes decked out with a log-burner, local art, handwoven textiles and headboards.
The wild spa invites you to relax into this natural environment, with its wood-fired hiot tub and sauna, a cold bucket shower and a sanctuary room for treatments. There's also a kitchen garden and lots of wildlife to spot in their 12-acre nature reserve, plus they keep their own sheep, pigs, chickens and bees, and aim to be self-sufficient in every way possible. It's a fabulous natural playground for kids, who as well as enjoying the beautiful natural attractions of the countryside can express themselves in The Studio, the creative hub of the Little White Alice complex, home to regular arts and crafts activities run by owner Rosie, including painting, print-making, basket-making and mosaics. As for other things to do, the popular Stithians Watersports Centre is only a mile away, there's a great horse-riding centre a little bit further on, and you're only a few miles from Falmouth and the coast.

Amazing place to stay
Stayed for a week in May 2012 and it was fantastic. The accommodation was modern, clean and luxurious and a pleasure to stay in. Rosie and Simon were very helpful and friendly and recommended some great places to visit. The whole experience was enjoyable and relaxing and would definitely come here again. Bob & Eileen
Little White Alice
We have just had the most amazing week in Cornwall. We use cottages every year but this has surpassed everyone else's by far. It is just such a lovely laid back place, crafted beautifully and a pleasure to come back to each day or, to spend your days resting in. Our cottage was kitted out to the best possible standard, the natural pool area and hot tub were unique and the owners were attentive and friendly. We took advantage of the crafting classes run by the owners and set out to explore the local area, even going for country runs! We cannot recommend these cottages enough and will be back again next year.
A great place to stay
I'm not sure if it's the wonderful accommodation in the heart of the Cornish country side, the surpise little extra's, the calm and relaxing atmosphere, the eco friendliness or the warm welcome that make Little White Alice special. Whatever it is it's a magic combination.
