Maenporth Beach
Near Falmouth
Bring your snorkelling gear, a kayak or just a bucket and spade to this picturesque cove. It's a five-minute drive from Falmouth, or a 45-minute walk along the South West Coast Path via Swanpool Beach. Once here there's no mobile phone reception or over-blown beach facilities, just a simple café and a shallow, sandy bay made for swimming, snorkelling or a quiet paddle out to sea. As a cove it's calm and sheltered and doesn't get over-crowded by cornwall's surfer population. Dogs are banned from Easter to October.
