The Bothy

It's as secluded a country bolthole as you could wish for, with glorious walks on your doorstep, and the delights of England's most undiscovered county just beyond. Bang in the middle of the UK's darkest Dark Sky Country, it's the perfect place to gaze up the stars and dream with your loved one.

The Bothy is spacious and beautifully fitted out in a contemporary country style – all on one level,  with high beamed ceilings, underfloor heating and wifi throughout. It has one, good-sized bedroom, with a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, and a sitting room with an electric log fire, flatscreen TV and doors leading out onto a shady patio with a barbecue and outdoor furniture. There's also a beautiful fitted kitchen with all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a property of this calibre –  an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, plus a dining table with seating for four people. 

The location is stunning –  a couple of miles from Hadrian's Wall and the ancient Roman site at Vindolanda, and not much further from nearby Kielder Forest and the Northumberland National Park. You're also just a few miles north of the bustling market town of Hexham, and even Newcastle is not far if you fancy a glam night out. You're also very well served with memorable dining places, from the nearby Red Lion in Newbrough, which serves great food and local ales, the excellent Angel in nearby Corbridge, and even fine-dining in the locally renowned Hjem restaurant in Wall. All in all, this is a perfectly situated, very peaceful, Northumberland sanctuary for two – and the same owners have a larger property, Laverick Cottage, nearby.
