One of three cottages at Holly House Farm let by Holiday At Home, Georgia offers a level of contemporary luxury that you might not expect from self catering accommodation in such a rural setting. From the outside, Georgia is a quintessential stone cottage in a farm setting, but step inside and you’ll find interiors that wow. Bold colours and contemporary design bring this holiday home up to date, though it retains its classic cottage charm. Comfy corners, a log burner and a modern farmhouse kitchen take care of that. Meanwhile, there’s a hot tub outside. All this combined makes this three-bedroom dog-friendly cottage a fantastic base for a holiday in North Yorkshire.

The cottage sleeps up to six and works as well for a family as it does for three couples or even, perhaps, for a group of friends on an outdoorsy getaway. That’s due in part to the sociable open-plan living space and also to the flexibility of the bedrooms. Each has a zip-and-link bed so rooms can be configured as doubles, with a generous kingsize, or as a twin-bedded room. All of the bedrooms are individually styled. The downstairs bedroom with a walk-in shower is great for those with reduced mobility or for anyone who doesn’t fancy the stairs.

There’s a small private outdoor space with the hot tub, a barbecue and outdoor seating but Holly House Farm stretches further. There are two acres of gardens and grounds, shared with the neighbouring cottages, in which you’re welcome to wander. Of course, there’s plenty more wandering too. Beyond the farm, Alfred Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast Walk passes close by and provides a route in either direction and the River Swale babbles by half a mile from here. Cross it to head into the historic market town of Richmond, or follow its banks in the other direction – into the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Facilities

There are three bedrooms. The ground floor bedroom is en-suite with a walk-in shower. All three bedrooms have super king zip-and-link beds that split into twin rooms for groups and families. Each bathroom includes towels, hot tub towels, robes, and toiletries. Two of the three bedrooms include televisions.

There is an acre of grounds to enjoy outside and a public footpath runs across the field by the house, perfect for dog owners. Inside, there's good Wi-Fi, a microwave for families with young children, a Bluetooth speaker, and a welcome hamper included on arrival. For your comfort there is also a 24-hour on-call service in case of any issues during your stay.

Suitable For

Up to two dogs are allowed, and both the front and back outdoor areas are enclosed. The property is well suited to all ages. A cot and a high chair can be requested. The ground floor bedroom is an ensuite with a walk-in shower. For accessibility, there is one step into the property, and then it is all on one level.

Nearby

The house sits between the local market town of Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales. The visitor guestbook includes plenty of family-friendly activities. Walk into town and enjoy a wealth of pubs, cafes, restaurants, and local shops. We recommend The Station, which has a cinema, cafe, bakery, brewery, and ice cream shop, close to the River Swale and a 20-minute walk away

Within a 3-minute drive, test out the Holly Hill Inn for a Friday night beer, or enjoy traditional pub cooking and an amazing view from the George and Dragon at Hudswell. Within a 10-minute drive, there are plenty more choices to enjoy, including dog-friendly pubs in Richmond, cafes, a tapas bar, and various takeaway restaurants.

Getting There

From the A1, head towards Richmond and Catterick Garrison on the A6055. After three-and-a-half miles turn right on to Plumer Road. After just over a mile, Holly Hill Farm, where Georgia is located, is signposted on the right hand side.
