It’s so nice to see a pub that’s thriving as much as this one, but the Craft Beer Co. on Leather Lane Market is not your average London boozer, serving its own choice house ales – Clerkenwell Pale Ale (brewed by Kent Brewery) and Clerkenwell Lager (brewed by Mikkeller in Denmark) – alongside 37 other brews on tap from all over the world. Situated on two floors, with an impressive mirrored ceiling, chandeliers and a long wooden bar on the ground floor, its staff know their stuff when it comes to beer, so don’t be afraid to ask for a recommendation; prices range from standard London pub pint rates to £3 or more for a half of some of the more exclusive brews. Samples are often possible and their branded, over-sized glasses are great for those who like a larger head on their drink. Food is sensibly – and admirably – limited to pork pies and scotch eggs.
