Not your average one-trick-bar, the Lockside Lounge also doubles up as a great place to grab a late lunch or early supper, with its modest-sized but big-on-flavour menu. It's a tourist magnet, so you can expect British classics like pies and sausage & mash. Yet there are also some nice, equally classic but more imaginative options such as the fat roast beef and horseradish sandwich, and the roasted squash with pomegranate and crispy bacon salad, on a menu that changes with the seasons. The good news is there's no 'ding' food – microwaves are outlawed and the service is great. Our tip is to order their second-to-none cheeseboard and wash it down with a fine wine, ale or spirit from the fantastic back bar.
