Blackheath Farmers Market
Blackheath Station Car Park London SE3 9LA
People come from far and wide to this excellent regular Farmer's Market, which takes place every Sunday morning in the car park by the station in Blackheath Village. You'd be a fool not to join them if you'e in the neighbourhood – get here early and you can breakfast on a sausage or bacon roll while you browse the stalls, most of which are farmers and producers up from Kent, selling fabulous fruit and veg that more than justify the county's 'garden of England' tag. There's a vast array of apple varieties, glossy chard and beetroot, exotic potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes and other veg that you don't find much elsewhere. Several great organic butchers, a couple of fish stalls from coastal Essex, and a variety of cheesemongers, bakers and scotch egg makers complete the picture, and the great thing about being in Blackheath's quaint village is that there are any number of comfy hostelries you can repair to afterwards to inspect your purchases.
