Very popular, very cool gastro pub with tables for just drinks, with or without bar snacks like Gloucester Old Spot sausages, fish finger sarnies and the like, or tables at the back for the full-on lunch and dinner menus in front of the open kitchen. Buzzy, busy and probably not the place for a quiet tete-a-tete, but the food is good and hearty – Welsh lamb broth, or smoked mackerel rillettes to start, braised rabbit wirth pancetta and mash, beef osso buco, pork with cabbage and roasts on Sundays. Always lots of specials. You get the picture. The twist is the cinema downstairs, which shows retro movies every Sunday evening – with free popcorn!
