Is this a match made in heaven? A super-stylish Bath city centre hotel with its own pub!

Part of the West Country-based Butcombe group, this is a boutique hotel with a pub attached, right in the heart of Bath. It's a nice and rather unique blend of both – a slick Victorian townhouse with a selection of stylish bedrooms on one of the city centre's most interesting streets, home to a typically Bath-esque mixture of indy shops and places to eat and drink. It's relatively new, and with the Pig & Fiddle pub next door, makes for one of the city's best places to stay.

The townhouse has 11 bedrooms across three floors. They're cool and sassy, making the most of the building's 19th-century origins while elevating them to the 21st, with a cool, neutral palette, lifted with splashes of colour on the beds, windows and walls. Bathrooms are right-up to date too, with faux old-fashioned tiles and spacious walk-in showers with rainforest fittings – just what every West Country hipster needs and expects. There are also Dyson fans, Roberts radios, espresso makers and mini-fridges crammed with Butcombe ales, soft drinks and fresh milk for tea and coffee.

A continental breakfast is laid out every morning in the downstairs café, which is also open all day for drinks and snacks. Next door, The Pig & Fiddle is Butcombe's Bath pub – recently revamped as a thoroughly modern boozer, serving excellent pub food and bar snacks and showing live sport, plus a cosy environment in which to enjoy them. Butcombe ales predominate, as you would expect, but there are guest ales too, and a pleasant garden for summertime quaffing.

We have 11 of the cosiest of the Townhouse’s rooms. Boasting a king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and local organic toiletries by Bramley.
