Fab city centre boutique bolthole – with a glamping option on the roof.
There's a lot that's surprising about Bristol's Brooks Guesthouse. First of all it's much more than just a guesthouse, with no less than 23 rooms, a boutique chic vibe and a fabulous location bang in the heart of Bristol, right by the St Nicholas Markets, just a few minutes' walk from the waterfront. Set around a quiet, secluded courtyard, its rooms are furnished in contemporary style with retro furniture, funky wallpaper and Shaker-style wood panelling, and generously equipped with goose down duvets and high-end bed linen. The cheaper ones are smaller, with smaller beds, but all have Freeview TVs, DVDs and free wifi and you will be extremely comfortable in any of them. Just in case you fancy something different, though, it's worth knowing that they also have a fleet of four retro-style
Airstream caravans with en-suite bathrooms on the roof – that's right, rooftop glamping right in the middle of Bristol! The caravans, which are all handmade British affairs, range from a 16ft Rocket with a 4' 6" bed to a 20ft Rocket with a 5' bed and room for 2 little ones, and all have predictably great views over the city and beyond. Each has a small and very ingenious bathroom, low-energy heating and lighting and Roberts radios. Whether you're glamping or playing it safe in one of the downstairs bedrooms, breakfast is fab, with a choice of eggs multiple ways, crepes and French Toast or the Full English. They also have a honesty bar and some comfy chairs for sitting around and planning your day, as well as seating in the courtyard outside. You may also be interested to know the same people have a city property in nearby
Bath – though sadly, there's no caravan on the roof. Yet.
