Dorset brewers Hall & Woodhouse (of Badger ales fame) took over the old Bonhams auction house in 2010 and turned it into their flagship gastro-pub. They’ve done a fine job, keeping a pub-area downstairs, a more formal restaurant on the first floor, and creating a rather fabulous roof terrace for al fresco drinking, with views over central Bath. The food’s quality British, with sharing ‘pantry plates’ a nice take on the old Ploughmans, and the beers are good, as you’d expect, including draft Badgers and tanglefoot, Hofbrau and Stowford Press cider. There’s a decent wine list, too, and free wi-fi. Kids welcome.
