YHA Hartington Hall YHA
UK England East Midlands Derbyshire
0845 371 9740 Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 0AT
Derbyshire is home to some of the YHA’s grandest properties, and this 17th century mansion will have you feeling to-the-manor-born in no time, with wood-panelled rooms, stone floors, open fires and beautiful grounds that are more reminiscent of a high-grade country house hotel than a youth hostel. It's a large place, with 124 beds divided between dormitories, family rooms and a self-contained luxury suite, The Roost, which has its own living area and kitchen and occasionally entertains honeymooning couples. Facilities include a bar, restaurant, café, games room and a laundry room – a godsend for those who are making the most of the Peak District location, and in particular the nearby Tissington, High Peak and Manifold Trails walking and cycling paths. For those who prefer an aerial view of the national park, there is a hang-gliding centre close by, and in a little over half an hour you can be at Alton Towers or Chatsworth House. Hostelling of the highest order, no question!
