Woodland family cabins in deepest Cornwall.

These woodland cabins couldn't be more beautifully – or more peacefully – situated, deep in the forest in Cornwall but just a fifteen-minute drive from the south coast and the resorts of Looe and Polperro. There are 45 cabins in all, neatly located by a lake in the heart of the forest or on the side of the wooded valley, and they come in a range of sizes, including the Golden Oak Treehouse which sleeps 8 and has a cosy one-bedroom en-suite extension.

All the cabins are extremely comfortable, equipped with a TV and wifi, and they also have some pet-friendly cabins. In the centre of the Deerpark site, the 'Forest Retreat' has a café and bar and shop, laundry room and play area for the kids, plus there are Forest Ranger activities such as bushcraft and tracking the abundant wildlife that shares the woodland site with you. Additionally, there are electric vehicle charging points, for your eco needs.

Out and about, there are plenty of cycling trails to explore, from the 4.9-kilometre loop around Seaton Valley Countryside Park (one for nature lovers) to the 27.4-kilometre Caradon Trail. Even better, you can hire a bike hire direct from Deepark; all you have to do is pick it up when you arrive. The area is also excellent for scenic walks from nearby places like Liskeard, Looe and Polperro. And for fans of little creatures, head to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, where you'll find ‘Bugginghum Palace’ Bug Hotel.

Secluded forest lodges in rural Cornwall.

If you have ever been skiing, the accommodation will feel familiar. The lodges are either set onto a lake or perched on the side of a hill up steps, and once inside they have that cozy alpine feeling with lots of wood on show. In ours the master bedroom was on a second level, with the kid's room on the living room level. We stayed in 2020, so I imagine it was a tricky year for them, nevertheless the place was looking a little tired around the edges and due a refresh, but everything worked fine and the staff were helpful. The location is at the bottom of quite a step sided valley surrounded by countryside, so everyone needs to be fairly mobile to get around. There's a playground, a simple shop and cafe to buy basics, order your bread, and get the kids something to eat with chips. :) Other than the walk around the site, which is lovely, there's not much there so you are going to be in your car each day to go and visit places.
