Set within a private estate on the Suffolk coast, the holiday house and cabins of Still Southwold offer self-catering stays with their own brand of clifftop cool. This collection of places to stay range from a luxurious four-bedroomed house to a one-bedroom bolthole for couples. But, diverse as they are, there are some things that unite them – starting with their incredible sea views. Each has been carefully designed to make the most of their coastal setting, with bedrooms, balconies and terraces all orientated towards the sea. They all share a strong sense of style, history – and a location that's within easy walking distance of Southwold.
The Easton Bavents estate has been in the same family for almost 100 years, but recently they’ve decided to share their special spot above the sands – and they haven’t done things by halves. The Warren House is the former farmhouse, which after a wholesale renovation is a light and airy place for up to eight guests to stay in total comfort. It has upstairs and downstairs sitting areas and bedrooms split across two levels. The upstairs sitting room opens to a large balcony, downstairs it’s straight out into the cliff-top garden. Light walls, large windows, wood-effect flooring (with underfloor heating) and blues and greens in the well-chosen fabric and furnishings create a stylish complement to what’s outside whilst studiously avoiding a nautical theme!
It would be too much to list what’s included in this well-equipped accommodation, but rest assured you’ll easily cater for your family or group. A Nespresso coffee machine, Sonos sound system, WiFi and Smart TV set the standard. And those are not just included in the main house but in each of the three self-contained cabins too. The Easternmost Cabin is a curvy, larch-clad bolthole for two which sits closest to the sea. The Watch Room and The Listening Station are shingled two-bedroomed cabins each very comfortably sleeping up to four.
Whichever you choose, you are only a few minutes’ walk from the sea and a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute cycle to Southwold. There, you’ll find the town’s unique and rather marvellous pier and its famous beach huts, the opportunity to eat fish and chips and locally-made ice cream. It’s also home to the Adnams Brewery and plenty of lovely little pubs, restaurants, eateries and shops – just right for a self-catering stay.
